West Side Tennis is a family oriented tennis facility equipped to promote tennis in Barbados. We are open for most of the year, only closing on Good Friday and Christmas day.
West Side Tennis was founded in July 1998 by Alexine Marshall at the former Sunset Crest courts with three surviving courts.
The facility has three lit courts, a pro shop and a ball machine. In our pro shop we offer a full racquet service including: stringing for tennis, badminton and squash racquets and customizing of racquets (grip building and addition of weights). We also sell balls, replacement grips, over grips and other accessories.
West Side Tennis offers Club memberships (single, family, group or half year), Junior development programs, adults programs & leagues, tournaments and tennis parties.
About Alexine
Alexine Marshall, Director & head tennis pro
- Alexine is U.S.P.T.A & ITF certified with over seventeen years coaching experience.
- She has participated in four I.T.F. world wide coaches workshops, Key Biscayne, FL. 1993, Spain 1995, Casablanca, Morocco 1999 & Bangkok, Thailand 2001.
- Alexine has traveled as coach of Barbados’ first Fed cup team to Puerto Rico in 1993, and also as coach/ captain for 2000 Fed cup to El Salvador.
- She has traveled since 1996 with junior teams to regional I.T.F tournaments and is the coach of former world ranked junior & University of Louisville team member Ariana Marshall.
- In 1998 Alexine was the manager of the ladies & mens tennis teams for the CAC games in Venezuela and in August 2003 the coach of the ladies & mens Pan Am games national tennis team.
- In February 2003 Alexine was certified by PASO at the University of Hidalgo in Mexico in a technical course.
- April 2005 certified at an ITF tennis professionals workshop in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
